The Romanian city of Timisoara is better known under its Hungarian name Temesvar. Conquered in 1716 by the Habsburgs, Timisoara is also described as a little Vienna. Numerous street cafés and shops line the pedestrian precinct from the orthodox cathedral up to the opera house in the town centre of Timisoara. Further tourist highlights of Timisoara are Castle Ianous, the old city hall and the Roman Catholic cathedral from the 18th century.
