Stockholm was built on 14 islands. In the west it is bound by lake Mälaren and in the east by the east sea with a unique archipelago of nearly 24.000 islands and islets. Stroll along Gamla stan, Stockholm's mediaeval city center and enjoy the charm of a city that combines traditional and contemporary elements: Visit Stockholm's Royal Palast or buy tickets for ice hockey at the famous Globen stadium. Take a ferry to Djurgarden and walk around. There you find Stockholm's well-known amusement park Skansen and the Vasa Museum.
