New York is situated on the east coast of the USA. With over 7.5 million inhabitants New York is the biggest city in the US. Therefore it is also called the Big Apple. The city is not only an excellent place for shopping trips but also to discover plenty of cultural highlights and world-famous sights, for instance the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building or the Statue of Liberty. For theatre fans the Broadway is a must. This street which starts in Manhattan and ends in the Bronx is famous for its 36 theatres and musical shows. The most glorious time of the street had been in the 1920s. The statue of liberty is one of the greatest sculptures of the world, not only because of her height but also because of her characteristic shape. Once it was a sign of hope for soldiers of fortune and disappointed refugees.
