Marrakesh is also famous for its wonderful parks and gardens. Especially the gardens of Ménara and Agdal are amazing. The most beautiful garden is the Jardin Majaorelle that was constructed as a subtropical park by the French painter Jacques Majorelle. The Kontoubia Mosque with the immense minaret belongs to the landmarks of the city as well as the glorious El Bahia Palace und Palais el-Badi or the impressing city walls from the 12th century. Until the beginning of the 20th century the gates were closed every evening. So anyone who wasn't a resident of the town could not enter it. The most beautiful gate is the Bab Aguenaou. Magic are also the souqs where you can buy delicious dishes, listen to storytellers or discover the exiting taste and flavour of oriental spices and herbs.
