Leipzig's acceleration point is the extensive market place between Peter-street and the Grimmaischen street. Around the big market place you will find lots of romantic cafés and bars. Near by you find the famous Leipzig Thomas church with the worldwide known Thomas Choir, where Johann Sebastian Bach invented some of his most admired cantatas. Leipzig was from the 16th to the 19th century one of Europe's cultural hot spots. Poets, such as Goethe, Lessing and musicians stayed and worked for periods in Leipzig.
