Krasnodar
The name Krasnodar describes both a region and a town in the North Caucasus. The region Krasnodar, the so-called Riviera or granary of Russia, shares borders with two oceans: to the Azovsche sea in the north and the black sea in the southwest. Krasnodar is even today characterized by the Russian Cossack culture. The region is therefore a centre of the Russian tourism. Numerous sanatoria and hotels stretch along the coast. The former fortress city of Krasnodar was founded in 1793.
