Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has a wide range of pristine beaches along the north and the South coast. Puerto Plata, Punta Cana and Sosua are the most famous places for spending vacations. But there is more than crystal water and white beaches. The capital's centre of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1990 for its Spanish Colonial style architecture. The city was established by Christopher Columbus' brother Bartholome. Behind the city you can take a ride to a region with forests, mountains and natural wonders where hikers and bird watchers will feel at home. While heading along the roads you will find large banana plantations, rice, tobacco and mango fields.
