Dnepropetrovsk, the Ukrainian town at the Dnepr, nowadays is a centre of heavy industry with huts, steel and strip mills. Dnepropetrovsk was founded in 1776 by prince Potemkin. Until 1926 it was known under the name Jekaterinoslaw. With over one million inhabitants Dnepropetrovsk is the third largest town of the Ukraine.
