Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka and for long time a flourishing port. There are many remarkable museums in Colombo - one is the National Museum with its collection of antiques and objets d'art concerning the history and culture of Sri Lanka. The Independence Hall which was set up in 1946 is one of the most important sights in Colombo.
