Chisinau, the capital of Moldavia, is built on seven hills on the shore of the rivulet Byk. 500 years of busy history do not have passed without trace. Main sights are among others: the Catedrala Nasterea Domnului with its splendid belfry and the Catedrala Sfîntul Mare Mucenic Teodor Tiron with its marvellous blue appearance. The Pushkin House reminds visitors of the exile years the great Russian poet spent in Chisinau. In 1903 the town attained sad fame due to the Chisinau pogrom.
