Baku
Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, consists of three towns: the old town, the town built in the end of the 19th century and the Soviet town. Situated in the centre of Baku, the old town is at the same time a fortress with a Middle Eastern flair: Main attractions are the Mohammed Ibn Abubekir Mosque, the world-famous Palace of the Khans of Schirwan, the caravansaries from the 14th century and the Virgin Tower from the 11th century. Strolling through a labyrinth of narrow streets and houses one can discover many shops, restaurants and cafés.
