Ankara is also known as a city of “double identity” – providing an old city center – the old citadel – with the charm of a small provincial city which has developed into a modern western-looking metropolis. Ankara’s nightlife is very limited and takes place in the more sophisticated parts of the city. Ankara is a University town and provides one of the newest libraries in the world, the Turkish National Library. Ankara has only a few historical sights but they are worth seeing: Visit the Column of Julian, The Temple of Augustus or the Roman Baths or have a look at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.
